Where Are The Incisions Placed For A Brow Lift?
As we age, gravity tends to tug and pull the eyelids, eyebrows, and forehead down, making them sag and create a tired or scowling expression that doesn’t accurately represent who you are or how you might be feeling. Fortunately, a brow lift allows you to counter gravity’s pull, helping to create a younger, more refreshed appearance.
Our board-certified, all-star team at Restora Austin understands how hard it can be to look in the mirror when all you see are the signs of aging starting to appear in drooping or sagging skin. We use brow lift surgery to reverse some of the more visible signs of aging. The procedure involves raising the soft tissue around your brows and smoothing out wrinkled skin on your forehead and the area surrounding your eyes. Here’s precisely how a brow lift is performed so you can be fully ready and prepared.
Brow Lift Techniques
Two different brow lift techniques surgeons utilize to create ideal surgical results. The first is the coronal forehead brow lift, and the second is the endoscopic brow lift. During your consultation, you’ll sit down with your surgeon at Restora Austin and discuss your expectations and goals in regards to your brow lift. Your features will also be carefully examined and documented. This will help determine which approach our doctors believe will give you the best results.
Coronal Forehead Brow Lift
During your coronal brow lift procedure, your surgeon secures your hair back, then proceeds to trim the hair along the incision line. Your surgeon will find the least visible spot to place the incisions to help keep any scarring discreet. Typically, the incision line is hiding along the hairline or the scalp. Your surgeon will discuss where he will make the incision and how he will hide it after surgery before you undergo the procedure.
Once the hair has been trimmed, a scalpel is used to make the incision. The incision will go from ear to ear in the coronal forehead lift. Your plastic surgeon will then lift the forehead skin, remove excess tissue, reposition specific muscles, and stretch the skin to lift the brow. Excess skin is carefully trimmed, and then the incision is closed.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
The endoscopic brow lift technique uses a small, thin camera device that’s connected to a monitor. The surgeon inserts the endoscope into small incisions made behind the hairline. The surgeon uses the monitor to view the muscles and tissues under the skin. Then, another device is inserted through one of the small incisions to lift the skin and remove or reposition muscles. Once the eyebrows and forehead are lifted, everything is secured into place using sutures.
