How to Measure at Home for the Best Breast Implant Size
There’s no fairy godmother to wiggle her wand and guide you to your perfect breast implants. Just like in real-life romance, if you want love at first sight with your new breasts, you’ll need to put in some work before your surgery. Choosing your breast implant size is critical to the success of your procedure. Find the right size, and you’ll build the foundation for a long and happy relationship with your new breasts.
Implant size is important, but don’t you worry – this isn’t a decision you’ll make alone. Our skilled plastic surgeons will guide you through the process, and these tips can help you narrow down your choices at home. When you come to a consultation with a basic understanding of what you want, our surgeons can take you over the finish line to choose your ideal breast implants.
Let’s Get Clipping
Before you can narrow down implant sizes, you’ll need to look at a lot of breasts. Grab your favorite magazine and clip pictures of bodies you love. Make notes of what you like and dislike about different breasts. See breasts that are too large or shape you hate? Love the curves? Make notes of what you love and hate so we can get to know your personal preferences.
Take a Size Test Drive
Many of our patients use pantyhose and rice to simulate the look of breast implants. Cut the boot portion off of a pair of pantyhose and fill it with a measured amount of rice. Knot the end and place the DIY sizer into your bra (a sports bra works best).
Try on your filled bra with a variety of outfits. Take lots of pictures and make notes.
Play around with the volume of rice in your sizer, adding and removing rice until you find a look you love. Brings your notes (with detailed measurements) and we can help translate these notes into implant sizes.
Water in balloons is an alternative to rice in socks. Try one or both options on for size.
Schedule a Consultation
You can learn a lot about your likes and dislikes using rice and photos, but these DIY tricks are only the beginning of the implant selection process. They’ll help you narrow options so you can effectively use your consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons to choose your ideal implant size.
During your consultation, we’ll talk a lot about what you want from your breasts. We’ll also talk about lifestyle and preferences so we can choose an implant size that won’t hold you back. Your anatomy plays a role in determining implant size. Our surgeons will take detailed measurements to ensure your breast implants are a perfect fit.
Remember, breast augmentation is much more complex than size alone, and you’ll have many decisions to make along the way. We’ll also talk about shape, implant type, and positioning. These factors, combined with size, will all contribute to your overall breast appearance and your satisfaction with your results.
