We offer a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical treatment options for hair loss. If you’re losing your hair, come see us, and quickly. These non-surgical treatments are very effective for some men and women, but work best before hair loss is advanced.
Propecia- Stop or Slow Male Pattern Baldness
Propecia is a prescription medication used to treat male pattern baldness. It works by stopping the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. This treatment can be effective for the right patients, but can only be used by men. It needs to be taken regularly to be the most effective.
Propecia can slow hair loss and also causes some regrowth. This new hair typically remains while you continue treatment, but will likely fall out as soon as you stop using Propecia. It can take a few months before you start seeing results. Propecia can be used long term, but does require regular blood testing to ensure that the body is handling treatment well.
Propecia has been FDA approved for treating hair loss since 1992.
PRP for Hair Loss- Rejuvenate Your Hair with Your Own Cells
PRP, short for platelet rich plasma, is a concentrated form of plasma and growth factors, extracted from your own blood. This hair loss treatment can be used on both men and women. A PRP treatment starts by extracting a small amount of blood. This blood is carefully processed to isolate and concentrate the plasma. Then this plasma is carefully injected into the treatment area (the scalp). PRP contains stem cells, growth factors, and other nutrients essential for tissue regeneration and healing. When injected into the scalp the PRP may be able to stimulate the growth of hair follicles. For some patients PRP turns inactive hair follicles back on, causing hair to regrow, without surgery. With regular PRP treatments you may be able to stop or significantly slow hair loss.
PRP can be used on its own, but it’s also an excellent complement to hair restoration surgery. PRP can help implanted hair follicles to establish themselves in their location and begin active growth.
PRP has been used in various medical therapies for treating sports injuries, cosmetic uses, and more.
