All About Microneedling
Restora Austin Plastic Surgery Centre created this infographic on everything you need to know about microneedling. Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, can safely rejuvenate the skin with minimal downtime. It can help treat various skin conditions:
- Acne Scarring
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Large Pores
- Stretch Marks
- Skin Tone and Texture
In-Office Procedure vs. At-Home Treatment
Beware of at-home microneedling kits. In most cases, the needles aren’t long enough to induce collagen formation, and because the needles are reusable and can’t be sterilized, they pose a significant infection risk. In-office microneedling is a more extensive but much safer procedure:
- Reaches over 1 mm in depth
- Under a physician’s supervision
- Topical numbing for comfort
Other Details About Microneedling
We suggest that patients be treated every few weeks for a period of 3 to 6 months, which is when results will be visible. There is minimal downtime, so most patients can return to their usual activities immediately after treatment.
