5 Dos and Don’ts When Getting Halo Laser Treatments
Have you begun to notice fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture starting to appear on your once smooth, youthful skin? Procedures like laser skin resurfacing may offer the solution you need to restore your youthful appearance once again.
At Restora Austin, skin and plastic surgery experts Dr. Dustin Reid and Dr. Ashley Gordon offer the revolution skin therapy treatment Halo™ by Sciton to deliver dramatic skin results with minimal downtime. Before you run to Restora Austin for your treatment, there are a few things you should know first. Familiarizing yourself with the “dos and don’ts” of getting Halo™ laser treatments will ensure you have the best experience and receive the most outstanding results.
What Is Halo™ Laser Treatment?
The Halo™ laser treatment is the very first hybrid fractional laser that simultaneously delivers non-ablative and ablative wavelengths in a single pass over the skin. It combines deep dermal rejuvenation with epidermal renewal for a synergistic effect you cannot find anywhere else. Other lasers offer either ablative or non-ablative, so tailoring treatment to patient-specific needs would not be an option. With Halo™, the treatment options are endless.
What Skin Conditions Does Halo™ Target?
Most patients who get Halo treatments struggle with the following skin issues:
- Skin discoloration
- Sun damage
- Rough skin texture
- Scarring
- Age spots
- Large pores
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Rosacea or redness
5 Dos and Don’ts of Halo™ Laser Treatment
Here are five helpful tips you can follow to prolong your Halo™ laser results:
- Do– Clean your skin twice a day with lukewarm water and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Use your hands to apply the cleanser and finish by gently patting your skin dry. Do not scrub your face or use exfoliating products at this time.
- Don’t– Your skin will go through a healing phase in which it might peel or flake. DO NOT peel or pick at your skin during this time. Allow the dead skin to fall off naturally. If you pick at your skin, this could result in complications such as scarring or pigmentation changes.
- Do– Wear sunscreen every single day. We recommend a high-SPF sunscreen of 30 or higher. Scarring and pigmentation can occur if the treated area is exposed to harmful ultraviolet rays. To protect your skin further, add a cute wide-brimmed hat to your outfit for the day. For men, represent your favorite sports team with a baseball hat.
- Don’t– When showering or washing your face, don’t have the temperature too hot or too cold. Go for lukewarm water and try to avoid putting your face directly under the spray head. Instead, use your hands to rinse your face or wait until you’re out of the shower to wash your face.
- Do- Moisturize your skin two to three times a day or whenever your skin feels like it needs some added love. Dr. Reid, Dr. Gordon, or one of our skin experts can recommend the best moisturizer to use on your healing skin to keep it feeling fresh and to help aid any discomfort during the healing process.
